Our Ales

Our intended range of follow-on beer, starting in April 2005, will be a light beer of around 4.0%, intended to accompany a lunch with clarity and light fruity appearance. This will be followed in June 2005 with our summer ale, a strong bodied challenging beer of an acceptable hoppy taste.

Centenary Ale

This is your's now - These are the words of Keir Hardie, the father of the independent labour party, when he opened the garden gates of a former ironmasters castle to the welsh working class as their own public park.

The ironmaster "Crawshay" of Cyrfarthfa Castle had departed, leaving all in the hands of the people and the new Merthyr Tydfil Corporation, which at last gained a royal charter in 1905.

Drink a toast not only to Keir Hardie, the greatest politician of his time, but also to the men and women of Merthyr and Aberdare who had the vision to elect him to represent this radical area in parliament and campaign for his victory.

The Red Dragon and the Red Flag were the new symbols in 1905, and a new confidence.

Centenary Ale - This is your's now - Enjoy!

Rhymney Bitter

Rhymney Bitter 4.5 ABV. A complicated beer using 4 types of Warminster malt and complimented with the bitterness of Target hops and the slightly citrus Northdown variety, to give a bold, refreshing Bitter.

A real taste of tradition!
